Welcome to our Website!
We are a family of 10 siblings (yes, all brothers and sisters!) originally from New Waterford, Nova Scotia. Growing up in a small Cape Breton town with 4 brothers and 6 sisters meant that our house was always filled with family...and music.
Many a Saturday night was spent at our parent’s house harmonizing with each other to our favorite songs while we passed the guitars around. Over the years, each of us was involved in our own music ministry. In fact, at one time, 7 of us were choir directors at different churches and the other 3 were choir members!
Our love for Inspirational music combined with our Christian upbringing, led us to begin singing together as a family. Since 1995, we have been sharing our music with others. The Burke Family message is a celebration of family values, of faith, hope and love.
Our first CD “Returning Home” was released in 2001 as a gift to our parents. This was a combination of original songs, Celtic songs, and some of our favorite inspirational tunes. This CD was nominated for an ECMA award.
Our second CD entitled “A Burke Family Christmas” was released in 2003. This CD consists of original tunes, as well as traditional, and depicts our feelings of hope, love and happiness throughout the Christmas season. This CD celebrates what we feel is the true meaning of Christmas. This album went on to win an ECMA award for Gospel Album of the Year in 2004. It was also nominated for a National Vibe Award as well as a Music Industry of Nova Scotia Award in 2005.
It was with great excitement that we released our third album 'The Reason We Sing' in Sept 2008. This album is a collection of some of our best loved inspirational songs, including two songs dedicated to each of our parents. Once again, our brother Pius has written some beautiful songs for our album, we can't wait to share them with you.
In Feb. 2009 this album won an ECMA for 'Gospel Album' of the year, and was also nominated for a 2009 'Covenant Award' by the GMA of Canada. In Nov. 2009, we recieved a 'Music Industry of NS' (MIANS) for 'Inspirational Artist/Group Recording' of the Year for 'The Reason We Sing'.
